Automatically inferring default values #504

Hi,
I found this comment in the docs:

Note that attribute values in the object model are not affected by defaults

Now, I would like to traverse the model and have it affected by defaults.
Is this easily possible, or do I have to write all the parsing logic to look up default values myself?
